Came across this character while hiking on a trail. He was trying to get some morning sun and did not appreciate our wanting to pass.
Jack Rabbits normally run when the spot you but this fellow kindly posed for a few photos.
I think this is a your male we met in the Spring of 2020. For about a month he was on the same branch when we were out on our morning walk. He didn't mind our getting close. Further along our walk there were two other owls, one larger who did not like us coming close. They all stopped their morning appearance about the same time although we still see the odd owl on our walks.
We interrupted this fellows breakfast so he went somewhere else to finish (below).
